Former Kaashidhoo MP and well-known businessman Abdulla Jabir has emerged victorious in a lengthy legal dispute concerning M. Athamaa Plaza, a property he bought around 15 years ago for MVR 14 million.

Although the property was registered under the name of Ismail Abdul Latheef, who heads the Maleesha Hajj Group, Jabir purchased it in 2010. Despite the sale, the property was later put up for sale to recover a debt confirmed against Ismail Abdul Latheef in the Civil Court.

Jabir had earlier attempted to intervene in the debt recovery proceedings to safeguard his ownership rights, but the court dismissed his claim at the time, stating there was insufficient evidence to prove he was the rightful owner.

He subsequently filed a separate lawsuit to formally establish his ownership and prevent any competing claims over the property. Jabir also lodged a complaint with the police, requesting an investigation into Ismail Abdul Latheef over alleged fraud and misrepresentation related to the transaction.

Civil Court delivered its ruling in the case on Sunday, officially declared M. Athamaa Plaza as a property of Abdulla Jabir. The court further instructed Ismail Abdul Latheef to complete all required legal procedures to transfer the property’s registration to Jabir within two months.
