The Maldivian Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has officially launched a scholarship program for PhD studies at the Institute of Global Development at Zhejiang University in China. Interested candidates may apply for either a PhD in Applied Economics or a PhD in Public Administration. To be eligible, applicants must possess a Master's degree in a field relevant to their chosen program, with the restriction that each student is limited to applying for only one of the two available tracks. The application process is currently active and will conclude on March 25, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
The Ministry of Higher Education has opened applications for Maldivian students to pursue PhD studies in China under a new scholarship opportunity announced on Sunday evening.
The scholarships are offered for two programmes at the Institute of Global Development of Zhejiang University:
PhD in Applied Economics
PhD in Public Administration
Applications will remain open until 12:30 pm on Wednesday, 25 March.

According to the ministry, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and each applicant may apply for only one of the two programmes.
