Recent market data from Male indicates a favorable shift in consumer pricing as the supply of watermelons increases. Following a peak of MVR 35 per kilo earlier this week, the price of watermelons has settled at MVR 30 per kilo due to a fresh import consignment from India. This trend of price stabilization is also observable in other seasonal produce, including young coconuts and pineapples, which have seen notable reductions compared to their costs at the commencement of Ramadan.

  • Watermelon prices decreased to MVR 30 per kilo following new imports from India.
  • Young coconut prices have dropped to a range of MVR 30 to MVR 40 per unit.
  • Pineapple costs declined from MVR 60 to MVR 50 per kilo within a three-day period.
  • Market variety remains stable with diverse pricing for staples like chili, lime, and bananas.
