The Transport Ministry gave 60 days to install green license plates on electric vehicles or EVs on Tuesday, following changes to the regulation on vehicle registration.

According to the ministry, the changes introduce new measures to improve the registration process and promote the use of EVs.

This includes mandating EVs to have green license plates.

According to the ministry, the decision to adopt the use of green license plates for EVs is aimed at promoting cleaner mobility and supporting the country’s climate commitments.

Owners of EVs have been given 60 days from the date the regulatory amendments were published on the Government Gazette, which was Tuesday, to switch to green license plates.

The amendments also introduce measures to improve convenience in registration of certain types of heavy vehicles.

The ministry says it aims to improve the country’s transport system, and promote the use of environment-friendly and sustainable modes of transport.
