United States Special Envoy to South and Central Asia Sergio Gor is scheduled to visit the Maldives to advance cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
Gor is traveling to Sri Lanka and the Maldives from Thursday to Tuesday for high-level engagements focused on advancing cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
In the Maldives, Gor will engage with senior government officials to reaffirm the United States’ dedication to the bilateral relationship, strengthen security collaboration, explore ways to assist the Maldives in enhancing its critical infrastructure and growing its economy, and celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.
The US Department of State reaffirmed its commitment to a lasting partnership with the Maldives and emphasized its dedication to regional security and stability.
Gor has also been serving as the US Ambassador to India since January 2026.
Maldives and the US established diplomatic relations in 1966.
