RDC contracted to build an extension to the G.Dh. Hoandeddhoo Health Centre, March 25, 2026.
On March 25, 2026, a significant step was taken toward bolstering the national healthcare infrastructure of the Maldives. The Ministry of Health officially executed agreements with three prominent state-owned enterprises: the Road Development Corporation (RDC), Fenaka Corporation, and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). These contracts are designed to revitalize, expand, and modernize the health centers across five distinct islands, an initiative intended to bring essential medical services closer to the residents of the atolls. The initiative represents a focused effort to address the growing medical needs of remote island communities. By investing in physical infrastructure such as wards, laboratories, and specialized medical rooms, the ministry is addressing the critical need for better localized care. This decentralization strategy is essential for reducing the burden on central hospitals in the capital, thereby streamlining the patient journey and ensuring that routine and emergency care is more readily available. The utilization of state-owned entities ensures that the projects are managed by organizations with the capacity to navigate logistics in the challenging geography of the archipelago. The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been tasked with the significant expansion of the G.Dh. Hoandeddhoo Health Centre. Valued at MVR 8.1 million, this project is set to be completed within 365 days. The scope of work is extensive, incorporating a dedicated nurse station, a four-bed ward, a private room, a functional laboratory, a public health unit, a meeting hall, and essential laundry and storage facilities. This comprehensive approach ensures the center is well-equipped to serve as a hub for community health.

The agreements were signed with Road Development Corporation (RDC), Fenaka Corporation, and MTCC.
