Large multi-sports complex opens in Hulhumale’ Phase II

The Housing Development Corporation recently celebrated the official opening of the Hulhumale Kulhivaru Ekuveni in Hulhumale Phase II, a major development designed to serve the community's growing need for recreational spaces. Inaugurated by Managing Director Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair, the state-of-the-art facility is set to provide residents with dedicated areas for a variety of sports. The initiative reflects a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents by fostering a culture of fitness and social interaction through accessible sports infrastructure.

A large multi-sports complex developed by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has opened in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The sports complex, named the Hulhumale’ Kulhivaru Ekuveni, was inaugurated by HDC’s Managing Director Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair on Friday night, in a ceremony attended by representatives from various sports academies operating in Hulhumale’.

The sports complex has separate courts for the traditional Maldivian sport of bashi, as well as for volleyball, basketball, handball, and netball.

HDC said it believes the sports complex ease the current challenges in booking sports courts in Hulhumale’, and also promote fitness and social wellbeing among Hulhumale’ residents.

The corporation said it is also working on developing more sports facilities and outdoor gyms in Hulhumale’.
