The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast moderate to heavy weather conditions across much of the country on Thursday evening, with strong winds and rough seas expected.
A white alert has been issued for the northern atolls, from Haa Alif to Meemu, effective until 2:30 am. The Met Office said heavy rain and winds between 19–24 mph are expected, with gusts reaching 40 mph in thunderclouds. Seas are forecast to be rough.
Earlier in the afternoon, the weather bureau also issued a yellow alert for Gaafu Alif to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, warning of torrential rain and thunderstorms between 13:15 and 16:00.

The Met Office has previously said rainfall in June is expected to vary across the country, with some northern and central atolls likely to receive above‑normal or below‑normal rainfall, while other regions may see less rain than usual.
Temperatures are expected to remain above normal nationwide, according to the bureau.
The Met Office also noted that while June is likely to see less rainfall than May, rainfall is expected to increase again in July.
