Man critically injured in Hithadhoo highway collision dies, following days of critical care

The man who was critically injured in a road accident in Addu City last week has died.

The deceased has been identified as Rameez Abdullah, a resident of Addu City Hithadhoo, an employee of Fenaka Corporation.

The accident occurred on Tuesday night when two motorcycles collided on Hithadhoo Highway.

A CCTV video circulating on social media shows a motorcycle speeding along the highway before colliding with another motorcycle moving slowly. A rider being thrown off the vehicle can also be seen in the footage.

Rameez, who sustained severe injuries in the crash, including a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures, according to his family, underwent emergency surgery and was kept under critical observation. He died on Monday while receiving treatment in the ICU of ADK Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
