MNDF confirms Thinadhoo boat ‘Jazeera’ is sinking

A well-known boat from G.Dh. Thinadhoo has begun to sink.

MNDF confirmed to Sun that the boat, named Jazeera, is sinking, and said further information will be shared as soon as it becomes available.

Police told Sun that the Jazeera boat was travelling to Thinadhoo from Male' city when it began to sink. The incident was reported to police at 03:26 pm on Thursday sinking near V. Felidhoo.

All passengers were transferred to a speedboat named Villa Dhuveli, according to police. It remains unclear whether anyone was injured.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

A video circulating on social media shows part of the vessel already underwater. Two to three people can be seen working onboard, and it is believed to be a cargo boat.
