The government’s Digital for All campaign is an important initiative that will enable the people of Maldives to become digitally literate and keep pace with the world’s leading nations, Minister for Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu said.
The Minister said this as the chief guest at the event, speaking at the launch of the Digital for All campaign on Wednesday.
He said the main objective of the campaign is to make the people technologically competent, adding that the President’s vision is to develop Maldives as a modern, developed country under the Maldives 2.0 transformation agenda.
The project will enable the Maldivian population to become aware of the major changes coming through Maldives 2.0 and become knowledgeable and skilled people, he said.
The campaign, which is being conducted over three years, will be carried out in collaboration with all universities, colleges and councils in Maldives.
In addition, the Minister said he is working to pave the way for certification by combining small and rarely acquired training and skills to build people who are familiar with the digital world.
This is a national initiative of the Maldives Qualifications Authority, MINDCo, Maldives National Skills Development Authority and the National Institute of Education.
The Minister concluded by saying that the government’s policy is to build a productive generation by providing easy access to the people. The government’s main objective is to provide access to the knowledge and skills needed to shape Maldives as a developed country, he said.
