Two Egyptians arrested for Himmafushi fight deported after police investigation

Two Egyptians arrested in connection with a fight in K. Himmafushi have been deported, police said.

Police said a fight was reported at 19:24 pm on Sunday. Two expatriate men from Egypt were arrested in connection with the case and were remanded in custody for two days after being produced before the court for a decision on their detention, the agency said.

Police said the Maldives Police Service has completed its investigation into the case. The police have submitted a request to Maldives Immigration to deport the suspects and prevent them from returning to Maldives.

It is noteworthy that cases of fighting have become very common recently. Two days ago, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a fight between children in Hulhumale’ second phase. Youths and children, and sometimes expatriates, are often involved in such clashes.

Police said they are closely monitoring such incidents and working at various levels to reduce fighting.
