The acting imam of Th. Vandhoo has been arrested on charges of sorcery.
Police said a report of alleged sorcery was lodged at 06:05 pm on Tuesday evening, after which a 61-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the case. The incident is under investigation by the Maldives Police Service.
A source at the island told Sun that the man had been serving as an acting imam on the island.

In recent years, several islands have reported incidents ranging from disputes linked to black magic claims to arrests made following community complaints.
