The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Maldives and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the legal sector.
Highlighting the importance of the agreement in a social media post, Maldivian Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef said that the framework will enhance legal cooperation between the two offices, particularly in efforts to combat transnational crime, while facilitating closer collaboration in the future.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef, while Prosecutor General Aleksandr Gutsan signed on behalf of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and Maldives’ ‘PGO 2.0’ project; an initiative intended to transform the organization’s operations by increasing efficiency by more than 60%, while maintaining a focus on human-centred decision-making.
Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office and expressed optimism that the professional partnership between the two countries would continue to develop.
