President appoints Shamoon to HRCM

The President has appointed Shamoon Hameed, H. Minaz, Male' City, as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM). 

At a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on Sunday morning, Shamoon was sworn in as a member of the Commission and received his appointment letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Shamoon has previously held several senior positions at the HRCM. He served as Director of the Investigation Department from 2010 onwards and later as Secretary General of the Commission from 2012 to 2016. He also acted as the Commission’s focal point in the preparation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report.

In addition, Shamoon played a key role in national studies on educational opportunities for children with disabilities and in work related to the protection of children’s rights.

Until his appointment to the HRCM, he served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.
