Maldives wins 36 awards at SATA, including prestigious Face of South Asia title

Maldives has won a total of 36 awards, including the prestigious Face of South Asia title at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA), which recognizes outstanding contributions to the region’s tourism industry.

This marks the 10th year of the SATA Awards. A total of 178 awards were presented across 54 categories this year.

The most notable among them is the Face of South Asia award, given to the most distinguished individual in the region’s tourism sector. Damas Solih has played a significant role in promoting Maldivian tourism and was the first Managing Director of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), established during the administration of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Maldives also secured the Leading Adventure Destination award again this year, repeating last year’s win.

National airline Maldivian and Trans Maldivian Airways won the Leading Transport Service Provider awards, while Maldives Legend X won the Leading Liveaboard award.

  • South Asia’s Best General Manager - Maldives: Siraj Ali Waseem, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu  

  • Leading All Inclusive Hotel / Resort: Heritance Aarah  

  • Leading Dive Center / Brand: Ocean Group Pvt Ltd  

  • Leading Adventure / Sports Tour Operator: Best Dives Maldives  

  • Leading Boutique Resort: Kokogiri Island Resort & Spa  

  • Leading Guesthouse / Tourist Inn: Triton Prestige Seaview & Spa  

  • Leading General Sales Agent: Ace Aviation Services Maldives  

  • Leading Passenger Sales Agent: Villa Travels & Tours  

  • Leading Family Resort: Kandooma Maldives  

  • Leading Resort / Hotel Brand: Atmosphere Core  

With these wins, Maldives’ total at this year’s SATA Awards stands at 36, reinforcing the country’s position as the most successful nation in the history of the awards, which have been held annually since 2016.
