The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Maldivian citizens have been affected by the recent attacks targeting two international airports in Saudi Arabia.

In a social media statement issued Sunday, the Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation and has not received any information indicating an impact on Maldivians living or travelling in the country.

Maldivians currently in Saudi Arabia have been advised to contact the Ministry’s hotline 7983400 should they require assistance.

The Maldivian government strongly condemned the attacks, stating that strikes on civilian areas and critical infrastructure constitute a violation of international law and pose a threat to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the wider region. Maldives reiterated its full support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard its sovereignty, security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Saudi Arabia hosts a significant number of Maldivians who travel for Umrah, education and employment. The Foreign Ministry said it continues to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of Maldivians living abroad.

International media have reported that Yemen’s Houthi group carried out missile and drone attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, prompting temporary operational disruptions and heightened security measures. The attacks were reportedly launched in retaliation for military actions by the Saudi-led coalition.
