One person has been killed, and 11 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh, the country’s civil aviation authority said.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed late on Sunday that the deceased was a Pakistani resident and that the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The authority said the attack also caused material damage that was still being assessed.
Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 at the airport Sunday afternoon, causing a fire.
The attack came a day after another strike on the same airport killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others.
Attacks on Saudi aviation, oil facilities
The Saudi-led coalition blamed the Houthi militia for that attack and vowed a firm response, calling it a violation of international humanitarian law.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia said that King Fahd International Airport in the eastern city of Dammam had come under attack, as Yemen's Houthi militia claimed strikes on two Saudi airports and major oil facilities.
The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said it was conducting damage assessments and safety inspections at the airport in coordination with relevant authorities.
It provided no immediate details about casualties or the extent of the damage, saying the incident came amid continued attacks on civilian aviation facilities in the kingdom.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said on X that air defences intercepted and destroyed a drone in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
