The highly anticipated Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026 has closed registration with a record number of more than 5,500 participants, marking its highest participation to date and reinforcing its position as the largest run in the Maldives.
Initially capped at 4,000 participants, registration was expanded in response to overwhelming demand, giving more runners the opportunity to be part of this much-awaited annual event.
This year also marks a significant milestone for running in the Maldives, with DMRR 2026 officially recognized as a World Athletics Ranking Competition, held on a World Athletics-certified course measured in cooperation with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
This means eligible race performances can contribute towards athletes’ World Athletics rankings, giving runners in the Maldives an opportunity to compete for internationally recognized results.
The run is set to take place on November 20, at Hulhumalé Central Park, featuring the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Open, alongside newly introduced team categories.
Bringing together seasoned athletes and those taking on their first race, DMRR continues to encourage people to embrace healthier, more active lifestyles, build confidence and experience the personal achievement of crossing the finish line.
Continuing its meaningful tradition, DMRR 2026 is once again dedicated towards the cause of child protection which is a central focus of Dhiraagu’s social responsibility program.
The run will create a platform for NGOs to advocate for children’s rights and raise funds for their cause.
DMRR is the first international run held in the Maldives and is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar, with a World Athletics-certified race route.
As the largest annual run in the country, DMRR brings together runners and communities from across the Maldives and abroad.
