The Future of Agriculture Forum 2026 was held in Addu City’s Meedhoo to mark National Farmers’ Day and International Food Day on Saturday.

The forum focused on the importance of agriculture, key challenges faced by farmers, and ways to strengthen the sector through soil conservation and climate-resilient practices.

Ahead of the forum, students from Seenu Atoll School presented models as part of the event’s opening activities. The ceremony was inaugurated by Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources Ahmed Shiyam, who said his recent trips to Addu City had been among the most productive and satisfying.

State Minister Ahmed Hassan Didi, participating as a panelist, noted that Meedhoo school students demonstrated remarkably strong knowledge of farming. Activities marking Farmers’ Day and Food Day have been ongoing in Meedhoo since Thursday.
