The Superbrands Maldives Council has identified 53 brand categories for 2027.
More than 350 brands will be evaluated under these categories, covering a wide range of industries, according to Superbrands Maldives.
Speaking to Sun, Superbrands Maldives Chairman Dr. Abdulla Mausoom said the evaluation will focus on brands that are most popular among customers. Priority will be given to brands that have provided services consistently over a long period, he said. Each brand will also be assessed for how relevant it is to the category it applies for.
Dr. Mausoom said international brands that have gained popularity in the Maldives will also be included. However, he emphasized that the status will be based on the perception of Maldivian consumers rather than the global popularity of the brands.
Next year’s accolades will include categories such as tourism, transport and motor brands. A newspaper and magazine category is planned for introduction in 2028, he said.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of a 15-member council of judges. Superbrands believes that this evaluation will establish a structured and reliable system for assessing brands in the domestic market. Superbrands Maldives was officially launched on September 6, 2026, with the aim of identifying and appreciating the most popular brands among the public.
