Continuous heavy rainfall has inundated most of GDh. Fiyoaree, with officials confirming that around 90 percent of households have been affected since persistent showers began at 1:30 am on Wednesday.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the flooding is the result of prolonged rainfall that has continued throughout the day, leaving large sections of the island waterlogged.

Fiyoaree Council President Abdullah Mubah told Sun that the island is still experiencing steady rain, and teams are using pumps and irrigation channels to divert water away from homes. He said the council, together with NDMA, is assessing the extent of damage to household compounds and identifying families who may require assistance.

NDMA stated that no homes have suffered severe structural damage and no residents have been evacuated. The authority is working with the council to provide additional support where needed as unstable weather persists across parts of the country.
