Police have uncovered a case involving alleged child sexual abuse and exploitation while investigating a report of sexual assault against a woman, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to Police, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on Tuesday on an island under the Upper South Police Division.

During the inquiry into the woman’s case, investigators identified additional allegations suggesting possible sexual abuse and exploitation of children. Police said these new findings are being treated as a serious matter and are now under active investigation. Officers are working to verify the details and determine the extent of the alleged offences.

Authorities noted that cases of sexual assault, including those involving minors, continue to surface from time to time, underscoring the need for vigilance and timely reporting. Police said further information will be released only as the investigation progresses, in line with protocols for cases involving children.
