Villimale’ Hospital has relocated its services to the building that previously housed the Amaan Hiyaa children’s shelter.
The move to the Amaan Hiya facility took place last Thursday as a temporary arrangement to make way for the development of a tertiary hospital at the existing Villimale’ Hospital site.
The relocation of medical services followed the completion of the necessary renovation work at the Amaan Hiyaa building.
On November 23rd of last year, Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib announced that construction of the Villimale’ Tertiary Hospital was scheduled to begin in mid-2024, with the project expected to be completed within two years.
The Minister also stated that a specialised team overseeing the project, which is funded through Chinese grant assistance, met with relevant authorities in December. He said physical construction work was expected to begin within approximately five months of those discussions.
Minister Muththalib assured that the new hospital would be equipped with modern medical facilities upon completion.
Infrastructure Ministry signed an agreement with the Chinese government in early June last year for the design of the hospital.
