Maldivian, the Maldives’ national airline, officially opened its new office in Beijing on Monday as part of its efforts to expand and strengthen its international presence.
The Island Aviation Services Limited-operated national carrier said the opening marks a significant step towards enhancing its flight operations and services in the international market.
The office was inaugurated at a special ceremony in Beijing attended by Island Aviation Services Limited Chairman Ahmed Shafeeu, Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas, Deputy Managing Director Ali Saleem, and Maldivian Ambassador to China Dr. Fazeel Najeeb.
China remains one of the largest source markets for tourism to the Maldives. So far this year, 327,531 tourists have arrived from China, accounting for 19 percent of total tourist arrivals.
Maldivian currently operates flights to three cities in China, including Beijing and Shanghai, using its Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The airline has appointed Megacap Aviation Services Limited as its General Sales Agent (GSA) in China.
Maldivian said the opening of the office represents a major step towards expanding its operations in the Chinese market and strengthening relationships with business partners and customers in the country.
The national carrier also highlighted the office’s role in further strengthening air connectivity and trade relations between the two countries, improving passenger services and supporting growth in tourist arrivals.
