The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard has transported more than 280 patients across the country in just over a month, according to the latest statistics released by the military.

MNDF statistics show that Coast Guard vessels carried out 88 medical evacuations between October 29 and November 5.

During the period, vessels operating under the Coast Guard's First Squadron conducted 54 patient transfers. The Third Squadron carried out 14 evacuations, while the Fourth Squadron conducted 12 and the Second Squadron handled eight.

The figures follow another busy week for the Coast Guard. Statistics released for the period between October 22 and October 29 showed that vessels conducted 89 patient evacuations.

Of those, 49 evacuations were carried out by vessels assigned to the First Squadron, while the Fourth Squadron conducted 17, the Third Squadron 16 and the Second Squadron seven.

Based on the statistics released by MNDF, the Coast Guard has transported more than 280 patients from October through November 5. The military previously reported conducting around 100 patient transfers during the first half of October as well.

Medical evacuation services remain a key part of the Coast Guard's operations, particularly for residents of distant islands who require urgent access to medical treatment.

In addition to Coast Guard vessels, the Maldives also operates sea ambulance and air ambulance services, with the government working to further expand both services to improve access to emergency healthcare nationwide.
