Sitting room, kitchen destroyed in house fire at Addu City

Extensive damage has been recorded in a fire at Addu City’s Hithadhoo district on Thursday.

The fire broke out at ‘Aaya Villa’ in Hithadhoo.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) told Sun that the fire, which broke out at approximately 19:18pm on Thursday night, was brought under control at 10:30pm.

The Maldives Police Service stated that they are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Eight people lived in the house, which was extensively damaged in the fire. The sitting room and kitchen were completely destroyed, and several bedrooms were also affected. Clothing, school books, uniforms, and other household items were burned beyond use.

The residents of the house are now staying in temporary housing arranged by the Addu City Council.
