Large plume of smoke rises as fire breaks out at Male’ building

A fire broke out at a building located in Male’ City on Thursday morning, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) states the fire broke out at a building near Jaya Cushion, located in Muniyaa Magu, in the Maafannu district.

Videos and photos shared on social media shows thick plumes of smoke rising from the building.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) states that one-story building where the fire broke out is uninhabited.

However, people living in an adjacent residential building have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

According to NDMA, the house next door is inhabited by 10 expatriate workers.
