VietJet, a leading Vietnamese airline from a country that has become an increasingly popular holiday destination among Maldivians, is set to commence flight operations to the Maldives with promotional fares to commemorate the launch starting from just 0 Vietnamese Dong (VND).
As part of a three-day promotional campaign, set to kick off on Thursday and continue through Saturday, VietJet will make millions of Eco-class tickets available from 0 VND. The airline will also offer a 20 percent discount on Deluxe-class fares.
VietJet stated that the promotional fares can be booked through its official website and mobile application for travel through September 30, 2027. The airline clarified that the 0 VND fare excludes applicable taxes and fees and is subject to seat availability.
The airline is scheduled to operate three weekly flights between Ho Chi Minh City and the Maldives on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. According to aviation news outlet AeroRoutes, the services are expected to commence on December 5 using Airbus A320 aircraft.
The new services form part of VietJet’s wider expansion of its international network this month. The expansion includes new routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Chiang Mai in Thailand and Clark in the Philippines, as well as services from Hanoi to Prague in the Czech Republic and Almaty in Kazakhstan.
VietJet said the new routes will establish a direct air connection between Vietnam and the Maldives, further strengthening tourism ties between the two countries. Statistics show that the Maldives recorded 1.45 million tourist arrivals through August this year, while Vietnam welcomed 17.7 million international visitors during the first nine months of the year.
