A food exhibition was held this evening in Addu City’s Meedhoo as part of the activities marking World Food Day and Farmers’ Day.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam.
Open to participants from Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and the Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) of Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, the exhibition featured a range of displays by the two WDCs, highlighting the local community’s culinary skills, creativity, and collective efforts in food production.
Activities marking this year’s Farmers’ Day and World Food Day began in Addu Meedhoo on Thursday and are scheduled to continue until tomorrow. Minister Shiyam and other senior officials from the Ministry are taking part in the events.
During his visit to Addu, Minister Shiyam also inaugurated an agricultural nursery established in Meedhoo. The nursery is part of the five-million-tree planting programme, implemented through collaboration between the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy and the Addu Meedhoo Council.
