The driver’s license of a Male' Taxi Line car has been confiscated after the vehicle crashed into a lamp post on the pavement in Hulhumale'.

Police said the accident was reported at 04:33 am on Sunday, involving a car that veered onto the pavement and struck a lamp post. The 28-year-old driver sustained various injuries in the crash, though police said he was not seriously hurt. His driving license has been withheld as part of the ongoing investigation.

Accidents of this nature have become increasingly frequent across the capital, with police reporting multiple serious collisions in recent weeks.

Hulhumale' and Male' have seen a rise in cases involving vehicles veering off the road, hitting pavements, and crashing into roadside structures. Just days ago, a motorcycle carrying three people was involved in a dangerous accident in Hulhumale', leaving two riders with significant injuries.

These recurring accidents have intensified public concern over road safety and driver behaviour, with many calling for stricter enforcement and better preventive measures to curb the growing number of collisions in the city.
