The Maldives Zakat House has officially initiated the collection of Fitr Zakat in the form of staple grains within the Male region. Commencing this Saturday and continuing through next Wednesday, residents may contribute their mandatory charitable donations at the Center for Higher Secondary Education. This initiative supplements the existing digital payment infrastructure, which has already successfully processed over 5.48 million MVR during the first half of Ramadan, representing a significant increase in collection efficiency compared to previous years. The organization continues to provide diverse options for both monetary and physical grain contributions to ensure accessibility for all citizens.
Maldives Zakat House, on Thursday, announced that Fitr Zakat will be accepted in staples in Male’ area starting from Saturday.
According to Maldives Zakat House, it will be accepting Fitr Zakat in staples starting from Saturday until next Wednesday.
Fitr Zakat will be accepted in staples at the Center for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Male’. The Zakat collection in staples will proceed as follows:
Fitr Zakat is a charitable donation of food that is mandatory for all Muslims. The quantity of Fitr Zakat is one saa’ - the equivalent of two hands cupped together - of the staple product the person commonly consumed throughout the year or its monetary equivalent.

A total of MVR 5.48 million has been collected as Fitr Zakat in the first 15 days of Ramadan, marking the highest-ever collection in the first 15 days of Ramadan during the past three years.
