The Emirates Red Crescent has provided a significant donation of MVR 626,795 to the Maldivian Ministry of Social and Family Development. This contribution, designated as Fitr Zakat and equivalent to approximately USD 40,780, is specifically allocated to aid orphans, children with special needs, and other vulnerable individuals currently under state care. The funds are earmarked for vital support, including Ramadan meals, food packages, and clothing for Eid celebrations. This charitable act highlights the enduring partnership between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates, reinforcing international cooperation in humanitarian and social welfare efforts while directly impacting the well-being of the youth.

The Islamic Ministry said Sunday that the donation, equivalent to USD 40,780.44, was handed over to be spent on orphans, children with special needs, and other vulnerable groups supported by the state.
According to the ministry, the funds will be used to provide Eid celebrations for children in state care, including Eid clothing, food packages and Ramadan meals.
The donation was made as part of the Emirates Red Crescent’s annual Zakat programme, which supports social welfare initiatives in partner countries. The Islamic Ministry noted that the contribution reflects the close and longstanding ties between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.
