The Maldives Zakat House has officially commenced the collection of Zakat al-Fitr for the 2026 Ramadan season, facilitating donations through both physical grain contributions and digital payment systems. Residents in the greater Male' area can visit the Center for Higher Education building between March 14 and March 18 to submit their grain staples, with specific hourly windows allocated for different days. Furthermore, the Zakat House has streamlined the process by enabling payments through seven primary online and mobile banking platforms. This initiative follows a strong start to the month, with total collections reaching a three-year peak of MVR 5.48 million.
Maldives Zakat House has begun accepting Zakat al-Fitr in food grains.
The collection of zakat in food grains began in the greater Male’ area on Saturday and will continue until Wednesday.
According to the Zakat House, grains will be accepted as zakat in the Male’ area from Center for Higher Education (CHSE) building in Male’ City.
Zakat al-Fitr must be paid at a rate of 2.4 kilograms of food grain per person, based on the type of staple grain commonly consumed in daily meals, including:
