The highest number of cases reported to police in the first half of this year are thefts, according to official crime statistics.
Police data shows 5,599 cases have been reported so far this year. This includes 1,208 cases in January, 953 in February, and 972 in March. A further 1,020 cases were reported in April, followed by 1,052 in May.
In addition, 494 cases have been reported so far this month.
According to the statistics, theft remains the most common offence. A total of 1,606 theft cases have been reported this year, accounting for 28.7 percent of all cases filed.
Last year also saw theft as the highest‑reported crime, with 3,478 theft cases recorded by December.
After theft, traffic accidents are the second‑highest category this year. Police have recorded 1,456 traffic accidents, representing 26 percent of all reported cases. A total of 3,478 traffic accidents were reported last year.
Other cases reported so far this year include 963 drug cases, 472 cases of lost property, 302 assault cases, and 295 cases of vandalism. Police have also recorded 164 domestic violence cases, 124 embezzlement cases, 115 sexual offences, 80 robberies, and 22 cases involving the production of unauthorised documents or objects.
For the year ending 2025, police recorded a total of 12,108 cases, with December reporting the highest monthly figure at 1,156 cases.
