The main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has established an office for ‘Bodu Badhalu’ or ‘Big Change’ – the manifesto launched by the party’s new chairperson, former President Mohamed Nasheed.

The MDP announced on Sunday that it has established the ‘Bodu Badhalu’ office at the party’s national secretariat, and appointed Hassan Latheef, a close aide to Nasheed and former parliamentary representative for West Henveiru, as the director-general of the office.

Nasheed’s ‘Bodu Badhalu’ manifesto is a comprehensive political strategy that focuses on the 2028 elections. It centers around sweeping constitutional and governance reforms in the Maldives, with former party chairperson Fayyaz Ismail as his pick for head of government.

MDP’s national council had approved the establishment of a dedicated office to push the manifesto during a meeting held on June 15.

The decision came just three days after Nasheed regained control of the MDP after a landslide victory in the chairpersonship election held on June 12.
